What do we offer?


An environment full of opportunities for learning, making new friends, and lots of fun! Yabalá has created new learning concept in Costa Rica. Utilizing the Montessori method, as well as the latest educational and administration techniques, we have created an ideal environment for learning.

What does Yabalá mean?
Yabalá means “Boy or Girl” in the Cabecar indigenous language, which identifies us with our costarrican culture. The word Yabalá united with the Montessori method creates an ideal fusion between our culture and the great legacy left by María Montessori, creator of this amazing educational method.

Who works in Yabalá?
All of our teachers have graduated from Preschool Education in local universities. Our Academic Director, who graduated from the Centro Internazionale Maria Montessori in Perugia, Italy and has more than 10 years of teaching experience, has trained them all in the Montessori method.
Our teacher assistants are all Preschool Education students and are exposed to Montessori training as well.
Our administrative and maintenance staff is highly respectful of children and parents, and have all been trained in the basics of Montessori. .

What is our mission?


Yabalá strives to be a constant source of learning of our values and our customs. Yabalá teaches children to respect others and to love and to care for nature by using the Montessori method and other extracurricular activities to achieve our goal.

At the same time, we understand the challenges presented to parents in our modern world, where time is a commodity. Based on this, Yabalá has created a simple and efficient administrative model that gives parents full flexibility and more time to focus on their children’s education.
