As part of the academic curriculum at Yabalá, we offer different classes that are taught by specialized teachers. One lesson per day is given to each class level. In this manner, each child receives a different extracurricular class each day of the week.
The following are the extracurricular courses available:

YogaKids

This approach to the child’s physical well being, acts upon his or her mind, body and soul and makes them conscious of their relationship with the rest of the world. Interests, needs, rhythm and learning speed of each child are respected as they exercise, breathe and relax in a fun and exciting way. Play is one of the most fundamental tools. In this class, children are introduced to postures and principles of yoga such humanism, tolerance and respect.

Physical Education

This class is designed to promote physical activity for children and to create a healthy habit for life. Its objective is to promote development of gross motor skills, as well as social interaction, emotional and physical well being through games and activities with their peers.

Environment

For all of us in Yabalá it is extremely important that children have a healthy and constant relation with nature and animals. This is why we have created a small zoo and a vegetable garden in our outdoor area.

The objective of our zoo is to introduce children to farm animals and to teach them the importance they hold in our world. Our experience has shown us that children react in a positive way to these animals, bringing them closer to this captivating and exiting part of nature. Our small zoo is kept closed at all times and children are only allowed to go near it if accompanied by one of our staff members. Our sanitation standards allow us to keep the zoo clean at all times which makes it completely safe for children. All animals currently in the zoo and all new animals brought in, are certified by a veterinarian to assure Yabalá and especially parents that they are in perfect health. Additionally, our vet visits regularly to check up on the animals and make sure they are in perfect health.
For our Science classes as well as our gardening classes, we have a vegetable garden where children will be able to work with plants, fruits and vegetables. We feel that this type of stimulation is critical for children, because from an early age they learn to share the world with nature while they learn about basic life cycles on Earth. Furthermore, children will feel proud of seeing how their work and effort generates life. These activities will go hand in hand with a strict cleanliness control of children

Cooking Class

Our objective is to relate house chores with school. In this way, children will learn the process of creating food and also they will learn which cooking utensils are potentially harmful and should not be manipulated.
Parents are individually invited to this activity to participate as cooking teachers, and in this way they can share class time with their child, peers and our teachers.

Hummanities

Each child’s potential is boundaryless. In Yabalá we want children to learn from an early age the greatest form of human expression: art, language, music and science are presented in a fun and exiting format. In this class, children learn different topics that will allow them to explore other cultures, words, sounds, colors and stories that will certainly enrich their lives.
